<Black Paint Leica> Exhibitions

“Hong Kong is a major centre for black paint Leica and such items have attained an almost legendary status amongst collectors and users, particularly those in Asia,” says Mr Douglas So, Founder and Director of F11 Foto Museum and f22 foto space.

There is an obsession with collecting Leica items of every model and vintage in black lacquer. The demand is strong and getting stronger, as reflected in the robust prices achieved in the market.  Owning a black paint Leica camera outfit has become the dream of almost every Leica lover. 

Black Paint Leica—Photo Exhibition

The Black Paint Leica photo exhibition showcasing the appeal of these Black Beauties will take place at f22 foto space from 7 July to 28 August 2018.  All the items shown are ‘residents’ of Hong Kong.  This exhibition hopes to provide detailed yet artistic images of the black paint Leica to allow visitors to appreciate the items and their special features.  The impressive images in this exhibition are works of local photographer, Bee Lau, and this is her first exhibition.

Black Paint Leica—Camera Exhibition

Simultaneously, the Black Paint Leica camera exhibition showcasing a curated selection of over 100 black paint Leica items from 1925, contributed by over 10 Hong Kong collectors, the first and largest of its kind in Asia, will be shown at F11 Foto Museum from 7 July 2018 to 30 March 2019.  The Black Paint Leica photo and camera exhibitions are curated by Mr Douglas So and Mr Edison Sam with their passion, expertise and dedication.

A 400-page book titled “Black Paint Leica”, written by Mr Douglas So, will be released on 7 July. ‘I hope that the book would become a useful reference to Leica lovers around the world,’ explains Douglas.  Another highlight is the stunning beauty of the photos on black paint Leica items which merits the attention of a wider audience.  The ‘Black Paint Leica’ book will be available for sale at both F11 Foto Museum and f22 foto space.
